Hi. I’m Maia.

I’m a writer, journalist, podcast producer and filmmaker living in Portland, OR. I earned my master's in multimedia journalism from The University of Oregon. I was the Senior Producer for Spaceship Media’s podcast The Wedge, which was distributed by Colorado Public Media and featured on NPR One’s New and Noteworthy page. I’m interested in telling stories about how people find new ways to build community, solve problems, and understand one another. I have a special interest in how we can reimagine criminal justice, schools, and our healthcare system.

 

Before all this, I was a teacher and a multimedia sculptor. In my experience, the best material to build a story out of is bricks.
